The renovation of Conmy Hall incorporated a comprehensive re-work of the Army’s principal performance center. Built in 1934 as an indoor equestrian facility, Conmy Hall has a 100′ x 200′ ceremony floor and grandstand seating for 1200. The troops quartered there are band and ceremony soldiers constituting the “Old Guard” created by President Washington. Marching troops, a brass band and fife and drum corps are typically used in the ceremonies. The project utilizes a series of reflectors to provide early sound, while the audio system uses large self-powered loudspeakers to serve the audience zones. A central cable plant permits the hall to be used in a wide range of configurations, and supports the use of remote broadcast and recording trucks.
