Project Description

The new building for The Theatre School at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park campus provides much-needed performance, rehearsal, instruction and office facilities for this top-ranked conservatory program. The complex includes extensive scenery and costume shops, multimedia computer lab, a lighting laboratory, a sound lab capable of multi-channel audio playback and multi-track audio recording to support sound design classes and recording sessions for productions, three full-size rehearsal rooms sized to support the main performance venues, four rehearsal classrooms dedicated to movement, and 10 acting classrooms sized and equipped to support small performances, as well as various instructional spaces designed for theatrical production education.

The heart of the building is the 250-seat Fullerton Stage, a thrust stage theatre with a single balcony. Complementing this is the 100-seat Sondra & Denis Healy Theatre. This flexible theatre space is located on the fourth floor, projecting a glass stage-end wall that is illuminated to accentuate the facade at night.

KA provided full acoustics, mechanical noise, and Audio-Video systems design consulting services for the project. This project has achieved LEED Gold Certified status.
