University of Pennsylvania Music Building Opens
February 16, 2010
Kirkegaard Associates and Ann Beha Architects have collaborated on a new facility for the Music Department at University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences. Half the facility is a restoration of a beautiful 1890 Italianate brick building, now used for staff and faculty offices. The other half is a graceful new addition, frankly modern but proportioned and detailed to complement the historic building. The addition houses four large classrooms, practice rooms, faculty offices, and two specialized music technology rooms. The facility is fully accessible and is expected to receive a LEED silver rating.
