Experience

For nearly thirty years, Mr. McCue’s multidisciplinary interest in acoustics, music and architecture has enabled him to work effectively with performers, educators and design professionals. He has provided comprehensive acoustics design recommendations and has served as Project Manager for music schools at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music; the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics at Stanford University; the Lamont School at the University of Denver; Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Conservatorium High School in New South Wales, Australia; and Indiana University in Bloomington. Mr. McCue has also served as Project Acoustician for the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland in College Park; the Christopher Cohan Performing Arts Center at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo; and the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A particular interest in sacred space has led Mr. McCue to the new construction of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston, renovation of the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and conservation of St. James Cathedral in Seattle.

Research

Mr. McCue is also a regular contributor of articles concerning historical music spaces to Early Music Colorado Quarterly, and his most recent research into Joseph Haydn’s acoustical environments has been published in the Eisenstädter Haydn-Berichte. Articles describing the interaction between room acoustics and music performance practice are found in Music Resources and The Horn Call. Mr. McCue was coeditor of Acoustical Design of Music Education Facilities, published by the American Institute of Physics for the Acoustical Society of America, and contributed to Improving Acoustics for Music Teaching, published by the Music Educators National Conference. He has addressed the International Congress on Acoustics; Acoustical Society of America; Acoustical Society of Japan; Australian Acoustical Society; Hungarian Trust for Historical Monuments; Haydn Society of California; Audio Engineering Society; American Guild of Organists; Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture; Music Educators National Conference; Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic; and Music Educators Associations in numerous states.
