Experience
In his 20-plus years at Kirkegaard Associates, Mr. Myers has worked on projects of all sizes and types. His experience as an actor and singer, combined with his training in architectural engineering, allows him to translate performers’ descriptions into design recommendations that are both build-able and attractive. He prides himself on tuning a building to the particular needs of each client, while working collaboratively with architects, theater consultants and engineers to create an integrated, functional, affordable whole.
Mr. Myers has contributed extensively to major new performing arts centers: Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin; Collin County Center near Plano, Texas; Cerritos Center near Los Angeles; Peace Center in Greenville, South Carolina; Blumenthal Center in Charlotte, North Carolina; and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului, Hawaii. He has worked on significant renovations of the Academy of Music in Philadelphia; E. J. Thomas Hall at the University of Akron; and both DeVos Hall and the Civic Theatre in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
His international work includes the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, a jewel box concert hall between the Petronas towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; a concert/recital hall for Chinese University of Hong Kong; studies of the Teatro Bolivar in Quito, Ecuador and Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore; and a renovation of the Taipei Municipal Social Education Hall in Taiwan.
Mr. Myers has a special fondness for teaching facilities, enjoying his interaction with faculty and students. He has helped design four major facilities for the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music in Ohio; three major facilities for the Yale School of Music, New Haven, Connecticut; multiple facilities for the Thornton School of Music at University of Southern California, Los Angeles; multiple facilities for the Conservatorio de Musica de Puerto Rico in San Juan; major additions to the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance in Eugene; Roselle Center for the Arts at University of Delaware, Newark; Wertheim Center at Florida International University, Miami; Stephens Center at University of Alabama, Birmingham; Rhinehart Music Center at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne; and Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Houston, Texas.
Additional academic projects include the Studzinski Recital Hall at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine; Lagerquist Hall at Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Washington; Howard Center at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan; Otsego High School, Otsego, Michigan; Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts; and the Detroit School of Arts, a six-story urban high school with full teaching, rehearsal, broadcast and performing facilities.
Mr. Myers has helped design a variety of worship spaces, including such large facilities as the Temple for the Community of Christ in Independence, Missouri; Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina; Church of the Epiphany in Miami, Florida; and First Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina; as well as smaller rooms: St Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; White Chapel at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana; Babson College Chapel in Wellesley, Massachusetts; and Bigelow Chapel at United Theological Seminary, Minneapolis.
Other significant projects include the Minneapolis Central Library; the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee; and the renovation of the Civic Opera House, home to Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Research
Mr. Myers has spoken as a guest lecturer at Yale University,, Illinois Institute of Technology, Bowdoin College, Columbia College, Andrews University, Bowdoin College, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has presented to the Acoustical Society of America on the Grand Organ Studio at Rice University; on the renovations of DeVos Hall; and on the renovation of the Capitol Theater in Madison, Wisconsin. He has presented to the United States Institute of Theater Technology on the USITT award-winning Babson College Performing Arts Center.
