Experience

At Kirkegaard Associates, Shimby works in the Room Acoustics and Mechanical Systems Noise and Vibration Control groups. His project experience includes: RPI EMPAC, Troy, NY; Xalapa Symphony Hall, Xalapa, Mexico; Puerto Rico Musical Conservatory, Santurce, Puerto Rico; ETA Creative Performing Arts Complex, Chicago, IL; Chicago Public Schools, Chicago, IL; Borland Center, Palm Beach, FL.

Prior to joining Kirkegaard, he was an acoustical consultant for the Brazilian firm Acustica e Sonica in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His project experience there included: Cidade da Musica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Teatro Ibirapuera, São Paulo, Brazil; Teatro SESC Pinheiros, São Paulo, Brazil; Siam Paragon Opera House, Bangkok, Thailand; Planet Hollywood Theater, Las Vegas, NV.

As a graduate student at RPI, Shimby completed courses in room design and modeling, airborne and structural noise control, room impulse response measurement and analysis as well as psychoacoustics.

Shimby is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and French.
