Experience
Mr. Penz brings to Kirkegaard Associates musical performance experience, a consulting background, and practical arts management expertise. His work at KA specializes on the initial phase of the firm’s consulting engagements, including programming studies and project development. His experience in this area covers a large and varied number of projects, including the Overture Center for the Performing Arts, Madison WI, Atlanta Symphony Hall, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, Atlanta GA, Strathmore Concert Hall, Rockville MD, Palm Beach Atlantic College, Palm Beach FL, and the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. He has participated in acoustics feasibility studies for the Academy of Music (Philadelphia) and Royal Festival Hall (London), and in programming studies for the San Jose Symphony, CA, City of Richmond, VA, MidAmerica Nazarene University, Overland Park KS, and City of Waco, TX.
His acoustics consulting background includes substantial experience in stage riser system design and acoustics consulting for Seiji Ozawa Hall (Tanglewood), Royal Philharmonic Hall (Liverpool), Orchestra Hall (Chicago), Heinz Hall (Pittsburgh) and the Barbican Center (London.) He is deeply involved in company knowledge management and database development.
Mr. Penz’s background in arts administration includes serving as Construction Administrator for a facilities expansion at the Meyerson Symphony Center (Dallas). His development background includes the creation of successful grant applications to Federal and State funding agencies, and donor cultivation and prospect development experience.
