Pressure Point’s new recording studios were built around a new SSL console, and were integrated into a narrow city site. While sound isolation, mechanical noise control, and room acoustics were the primary focus for this design work, the creativity of space utilization sought throughout every available inch of the facility was equally important. The newly designed Studio ‘A’ includes a Control Room (featuring the 72-channel SSL 9000 K XL), as well as a Tracking Room, Live Room, Drum Room, Midi Room and two Vocal Booths. All of the building’s main ductwork was oversized with vibration isolators and sound-attenuating lining, to reduce or eliminate noise from the mechanical systems. Oversizing and lining the ductwork allowed tempered air to be distributed at a very low velocity, and ensured minimal noise regeneration throughout the facility.
