The Rung for Women Headquarters Expansion centers on a highly flexible 5,000 SF Community Room, designed as the primary gathering and event space for the organization. A permanently installed platform supports presentations, workshops, and member programming, while seating for up to 320 people at eight-tops allows the room to serve large events with ease. The space was carefully shaped and detailed to support strong speech intelligibility, reduce echo and flutter, and maintain comfortable loudness levels, critical for a room that shifts between lectures, and community gatherings.

Given the high activity levels expected in this room, the design incorporates targeted loudness control, durable finishes, and thoughtful separation from adjacent programs to ensure that sound from active play does not disrupt neighboring spaces. These considerations reinforce Rung’s mission by ensuring that members can fully participate in programs while their children remain nearby in an acoustically comfortable environment.
