TCT's desire for the Emery Theatre is to have a large performance space where they will have unlimited access and capabilities for their weekday performances to school-age children. The space is being designed to be flexible enough to accommodate smaller or more experimental productions performed on evenings and weekends which will allow them to expand on the number of productions they present while offering a greater variety of productions. The acoustic approach was to transform what was a room originally praised for its natural acoustic music into a space more favorable for spoken drama and amplified singing. The renovation will also modernize the air conditioning, electrical, plumbing fire protection, and audio-visual systems throughout the theater as well as front-of-house spaces including an expanded lobby and back-of-house spaces required to support the Theatre’s needs. All of these design features are implemented with the goal of furthering TCT’s mission to educate, entertain, and engage audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.
