The new McCormick Place Marriott Marquis Hotel includes a 40 level building, with a 1200 room full-service hotel operated by Marriott International. The building is directly across the street from the new McCormick Place Event Center. The podium of the hotel building includes 2 large ballrooms that can be subdivided, smaller meetings rooms, boardrooms, fitness center, lounge, restaurant & bar and main lobby. The project also included a renovation of the historic American Book Company (ABC) building which will include Offices and Meeting Rooms. Kirkegaard's design services included room acoustics, sound isolation, and noise & vibration control. A large scope of the work was making sure the building is compliant with Marriott Standards, which include acoustic requirements. Kirkegaard also provided construction administration services.
