Designer

Matt Hubbs joins Kirkegaard with two decades of experience in theatrical sound design, during which he focused on integrating sound design into devising, collaborative writing, and traditional playwriting processes. As a designer he endeavors to balance his artistic talents and technical skills to take creative impulses and deliver them as crafted and repeatable performative moments through soundscapes, scoring, and subtle reinforcement. His designs have been heard on Broadway and the West End, in large-scale permanent installations like WB World Abu Dhabi, and on tour in small regional auditoria, international festivals, and almost everywhere in between.

Matt relies on his liberal arts background in literature and philosophy to leverage critical thinking, logic, and specificity in language to address complex and abstract concepts collaboratively and effectively. He also brings a breadth of recording experience that includes large-scale music recording studios, field recording, foley, and commercial voiceover.
