Located on the historic campus of S.C. Johnson & Sons, in Racine, WI, Fortaleza Hall commemorates the 1998 expedition to Fortaleza, Brazil, taken by Sam Johnson and his family in a replica Sikorsky S-38 amphibious airplane. The plane was identical to the one Sam's father, H.F. Johnson took in 1935 to study the Carnauba palm and establish sustainable ways in which to harvest it for inclusion in the company's "wax" products. Kirkegaard provided room acoustics, limited audio/video, and noise control consulting services for the dining facilities and exhibition space where the aircraft "Carnauba" is displayed. This project attained a LEED Gold Certification.
